Position Description
Credit Research/Municipal Bond Portfolio Manager will be part of a larger Fixed Income team with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
 
  • Credit Research
    • Conduct fundamental credit analysis of municipal issuers, as well as investment grade corporates both new issue and secondary.
    • Maintain internal credit ratings and monitor issuer fundamentals, ratings changes, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Portfolio Management & Strategy Development
    • Design and manage customized municipal bond portfolios that align with client objectives, risk tolerance, and tax considerations.
    • Formulate and execute active management strategies focused on credit selection, sector rotation, yield curve positioning, and relative value.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of market conditions and adjust positioning to capitalize on opportunities or mitigate risks.
  • Client-Facing Collaboration
    • Partner with Firm’s Economist, wealth and client advisors to support new business efforts and maintain strong client relationships.
    • Articulate investment rationale, performance results, and market outlook in client meetings and presentations.
  • Compliance, Risk & Operational Oversight
    • Ensure portfolios adhere to internal investment guidelines, client mandates, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
    • Work closely with compliance, operations, and legal teams to support best practices and operational efficiency.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MPA) or CFA designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience managing municipal bond portfolios in a private asset management or wealth management setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of municipal credit fundamentals, trading dynamics, tax implications, and regulatory issues.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-centric, performance-driven culture.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency in FactSet, Bloomberg and Excel.  Experience with Addepar is a plus.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience managing both discretionary and non-discretionary portfolios for high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients and/or foundations.
  • Familiarity with ESG integration in municipal bond investing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with a consultative, solution-oriented mindset.
